“Why this class is a "Must do" while in Tokyo”
My husband I like to take a cooking class in every country. Cooking classes are a wonderful way to immerse yourself in the real customs of the country awhile sampling delicious local cuisines. We’ve been to the Cordon Bleu in Paris, classes in New Orleans, and many other places, but this experience in Tokyo Kitchen was by far my favorite!
What makes this class outstanding:
100% hands-on from the start! You put on aprons and Yoshi puts you to work! Unlike many other cooking classes where we played a passive role (occasionally chopping or prepping), we made our own dishes, under Yoshi’s tutelage.
Yoshi met us at a central location and we walked to her kitchen together.
Before cooking, Yoshi treated us to a culinary and cultural lesson (everything from proper chopstick etiquette to the Japanese words for different food textures. This really made us feel as if we understood not only the food, but the delicious culture surrounding the food and customs.
The class can be customized and scaled. We were on a business trip with several others form America and Canada. We ended up being an intimate party of 3, but Yoshi remained flexible.
Yoshi was informative, and we kept the class on schedule (we were meeting others in our party at an assigned time after the class) but she took the time to answer questions and go on tangents when needed!
Highly recommended!!

"It was very easy to organise our lesson by Internet and email. Yoshimi met us in Asakusa and we went to her kitchen, which has a beautiful view of the river and Skytree.
She explained the philosophy of Japanese eating and the elements of taste and texture. She demonstrated cooking a meal and placement of dishes. She explained the recipes and preparation and cooking tips for miso soup, rice, spinach with sesame dressing, fluffy potato with laver and tempura. We then ate a delightful and tasty meal together and discussed our respective country's cooking traditions.
We felt confident that we could prepare a similar meal when we returned to Australia.
We warmly recommend this cooking experience.

“Yoshimi cooking class is excellent”
"My wife attended Yoshimi's cooking class and enjoyed learning from Yoshimi.
She has learned a lot from Yoshimi's cooking class. Yoshimi is very friendly and has good knowledge in Japanese food.My wife learned how the ingredients are used, foods that Japanese will eat in different seasons, how to keep the food fresh as well as the way to present the food.
They cooked Tempura as the main dish, and it is the most delicious Tempura my wife had during this Japan trip. She feels it is interesting to learn the cooking in Japan with Yoshimi wearing her Yukata and Yoshimi made her feel very welcomed. She highly recommends Yoshimi's cooking class."

“An unforgettable introduction to Japanese cuisine”
"Yoshimi is a very well organized teacher. She met us in an easy to find location and she had a sign for us to recognize her. She started with a simple overview of Japanese food and what makes it unique. She answered all of our questions thoroughly and we gained great insight into what type of ingredients are more often used in typical dishes.
After we enjoyed a fantastic healthy and easy to cook meal, we were surprised and delighted to have a little bit of dessert too!!
I would highly recommend this experience to foreigners who do not have friends in Japan who would focus on this very important cultural element."

“One of Tokyo's must do!”
It a great experience learning about the intricacies of Japanese culture and food. Yoshimi was not only knowledgable but personable. Her cooking school is fairly young compared to others in the area, however her passion for food shines through. She was also quick to respond to our emails and tailored our cooking class. This is a must do for any foodie! Anél & Donna
