Toshikoshi soba this days is often topped with tempura and we eat it out or cook soba at home and top it with store bought tempura. Unlike Christmas which is a good excuse for many Japanese to party, we spend the night of New Year's Eve rather quietly. The typical way is to eat toshikoshi soba, watching year end TV program at home.
I havne't planned my New Year's Eve yet but I think I am going to cook both soba and tempura at home and spend quiet night with my family.
How is the New Year's Eve like in your country ? Any specific thing you do or eat on the day ?
